Green peas for our sweet pea!

Super excited to try his first veggie . . . This is it? Yuck! (Mommy doesn't like peas, either)
Daddy, is this really what I have been waiting for?
Ugh! I guess I'll try it again . . .
Our Boo Boo tried veggies for the first time last night. We were so excited! He always stares at us when we are eating. I just know he has been wanting to try some real food. Well, he got to try green peas first. He was a trooper. As you can see by his face in the pictures, I don't think he really liked them but he ate them anyways. We have to stick with the peas for a few days to make sure he isn't allergic but we can't wait to try the next veggie.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Pumpkin Patch Part II

This morning we went to another Pumpkin Patch with Mom's Group. It was very chilly! Jackson had a great time. He loves watching the "big" kids play. Lucky for all the trick or treaters, the weather tomorrow is sunny and warmer!

Where do I begin?

Things have been crazy the last few days. First of all, Jackson's little tooth is still barely peeking through and teething is getting frustrating for all of us. We are managing with a little Tylenol, teething tablets and gel. His birthday was rough so we did not get out until yesterday to get him a birthday gift. I took him to the toy store for the first time and he LOVED it. He was so excited as we walked up and down the aisles. We got him some toys (some for Christmas) but for his birthday he got this V-Tech (is that what is called?) cell phone he has in the picture. He loves to hold mine, especially when I am trying to talk on it.

More importantly, we had our 6 month doctor check-up this morning. Ugh! These shots do not get any easier. He seemed to take it a little easier. He just cried for a few seconds. It really helps that I nurse him immediately afterwards. Also, we got our height and weight. We are no longer a 100% baby. His weight was 21 pounds, 10 ounces (with a wet diaper) and the height is 27 3/4 inches. He is in the 95th percentile for weight and 87th percentile for height. We also got the go ahead for veggies. We are so excited!

So, there is a huge debate. What is the deal with the flu shots? Staying home, I see so many doctor shows on TV and they debate vaccines all the time now. I decided to get Jackson the H1N1. We have to go back for his third rota vaccine in a month and we may get the flu shot then. I just could not give him two vaccines for the flu at the same time he got his regular vaccines. That just seemed like too much. Russell got the regular flu vaccine and I think I may go get it. Hopefully having us vaccinated for the regular flu will reduce the chance of Jackson getting the regular flu. What a decision?!? I have heard so many controversial arguments about the vaccines. I still can't seem to make an informed decision.

The only other news here is the weather. The high today is 41 degrees and it is raining. It is snowing two counties away. I don't think we will get any snow and Jackson and I don't want any . . . at least until Russell makes it home!

6 months old and a tooth coming in!

This morning, I felt Jackson's first tooth coming. He has been teething for a long time. It just looks like a little sliver right now. I tried to take a picture but the tooth is still way too small for the camera. As soon as we can, I'll post a pic. I guess the pictures below were the last of our toothless baby!

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

Go Red Raiders . . . or not!

Yesterday, Cee stayed with Baby Jackson while Russell and I had a date to the Texas Tech game. The weather was perfect but the game wasn't. Russell and I had a great time even though Tech lost. We hoped the Red Raiders would win but, toward the end of the game, we were far more concerned with getting updates on the LSU and MS State games. LSU beat Auburn and MS State almost upset Florida. It was definitely an exciting football day.
Thanks so much to Cee who kept Jackson. Jackson loves his Cee! She took such good care of him. See you very soon, Cee . . . how much longer to Thanksgiving? We miss you already!

Cee and Jackson

Cee also kept Jackson while Russell and I went to lunch on Saturday. When we came home, this is how we found them. I know I say it all the time, but Jackson loves to be outside. This was no exception!

More Firsts

Cee came to Lubbock this weekend. While she was here, Jackson had a few more firsts. He took a bath without the baby bath seat and he used the highchair for the first time. Both attempts were a success. I think he particularly liked the bath. It's like the swimming pool.
Today Cee is watching Jackson while Russell and I go to the Texas Tech game. Russell had a chat with Jackson about being on his best behavior for Cee. We'll see how it goes! Thanks so much to Cee for coming all this way. Jackson is so glad she is here!
Btw, I love the third picture of Jackson in the highchair. His face says, "Mom, how many more pictures are you going to take before I get to eat!" Hey, if I don't document every milestone, who will!?!

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend, we took Jackson to the Pumpkin Patch. As you can see, I had a hard time getting a good picture. I don't know which boy to blame since daddy would rather play than take pictures! Russell bought Jackson some pumpkins which we have out for our trick-or-treaters to see. As for the pictures, we are going to another Pumpkin Patch at the next Mom's Group. I am determined to get a good shot!

Mom's Group

Yesterday, Jackson and I went to our first Mom's Group. Mom's Group is a group of parent's that meet for an activity every other week. Yesterday, we went someone's house for breakfast and a little playtime. It was really fun and good to have an activity for Jackson and I. I got some good recommendations for doctors, too. For now, Jackson is the youngest member of the group and everyone thought he was adorable. He was in a really good mood!

Standoff

As you've seen, Jackson is getting the hang of his walker. He loves Maggie. He tried to chase her in his walker (as fast as he could go). She realized he couldn't get to her if she was on the carpet. So, this is how I find them. These kiddos are hilarious!

On the move

I'll work on figuring out the sound.

A chilly weekend in Lubbock

Believe it or not, Russell and I were supposed to be at the Texas Tech football game this weekend. We are glad we missed it since it was freezing cold and NOT a good game. Instead we enjoyed the chilly weekend by snuggling with Boo boo and watching a whole bunch of football. Boo boo loves to be in the "big bed" with mommy and daddy.
On Saturday, Russell went for a jog. We were worried about the weather but we snuggled Boo boo up. He really liked the cooler weather. He was in such a good mood after his ride! On Sunday morning, the temp on the way to church: 35 degrees!

Visitor from Dallas

On Friday, Zeke, my former chief stopped by for a visit. He was in town for the Texas Tech game. Go Red Raiders! It was so good to catch up! This pic is for our former court partner, Tiffany. She'll get the significance!

Geaux Tigers

Last week, LSU dodged another bullet. Lou Holtz is the only person in the country to pick LSU to beat Georgia. I like what he said before the game. He said, "LSU can't run the ball, they can't throw the ball, but they can find a way to win." Hey, whatever works! They actually looked a little more competent against Georgia. As for Florida, ugh, we'll see! Lou Holtz's prediction for this week: LSU, again!
