It's a BIG day for the Solomon family!

This morning, Russell left super early to head to Lubbock to close on our house. The current owners are leasing the house from us for a few weeks so our official move in date is not until September 17th. We are really excited about the move!

More importantly, Jackson is going for his 4 month check-up. I am excited to hear his progress but I am dreading the shots. Since Russell will be in Lubbock, Mimi took off from work to spend the day with us. (I doubt she remembers how terrible it is to see a baby get a shot.) Jackson did really well last time so we will see how this goes. We are also excited to see how our 100th percentile baby is gong to weigh in. Can you guess his weight???

Outside Baby

Jackson loves the outdoors. Yesterday we went to church with Mimi and Poppy. Jackson was quiet for the first 30 minutes but then he got squirmy. Why be inside when you can be outside? So, Russell and I spent the last half of church walking through the church's stations of the cross. They are through the woods next to the church. The stations were actually very peaceful and beautiful and had Jackson not gotten squirmy we would have probably never walked through them. The other pictures are of one of our family walks and the last is his new favorite thing, swinging.

Jackson's first word: "Ma-Muh"

That's right he said "momma" last night for the first time and he said it more than once. He has been working on his sounds. I try to talk back to him anytime he wants to chat with me. He is a gabber! I haven't even broken the news to Russell, yet. I promise, I'll work on "Da-Da" next!

Jackson's new friend

Jackson is starting to have a favorite binky. It's this blue bear. He falls asleep with it. So sweet! The binky was given to him by Uncle Thames. Thank you!

Another Austin Weekend & a Baby First!

We had another fun weekend in Austin. On Friday morning, Russell and I took Jackson to the pool in one of his new floatie toys his Mimi and Poppy gave him. He loved his boat and Russell called him "Captain Jackson." On Friday night, the Cowboys had a preseason game. It was their first game in the new stadium and they won. We cooked out and watched the game. Russell made his first beef tenderloin and it was yummy!
On Saturday I did a little shopping with Mimi while Russell and Jackson did a little bonding. It was tax free weekend in Texas. I couldn't resist! Saturday evening we went to church and dinner. We tried the Salt Lick a BBQ place next to the Dell Diamond (where the Round Rock minor league baseball team plays). At dinner, Jackson kept reaching for Russell and Poppy's beers. They thought it was so funny. That's were the pics are from.
Sunday we headed back to the pool with Mimi and Poppy. We wanted them to see how much Jackson liked the water. Of course I took lots of pics at the pool. Sunday afternoon, we had a big first. Jackson rolled over for the first time (that Daddy saw)! He rolled over once last week. This time he rolled over twice to make it extra special for daddy! He is rolling from back to front. Sunday night we had a family BBQ Sunday and relaxed after a busy weekend.
Russell is headed out of town for work today. I know he will be glad when he doesn't have to leave us. As for Jackson and I, we are hanging with Mimi. She took off work so we can run errands and play with the baby. I'm excited because we are going to one of my favorite baby stores in Georgetown.
Here's to another good week. We hope you have a good one, too!

What a weekend!

Well, Jackson, Maggie, and I made it to Austin over the weekend. Russell followed us in his truck because he is such a sweetie! He said he wanted Jackson to have all of his things over the next month. Let's face it, my car was not getting all of his things to Austin!
We had a great weekend. On Friday, we went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants to celebrate our last night in McKinney. On Saturday morning we headed to Austin. The baby did so well! I had been dreading the 3 1/2 hour drive for a long time. He slept almost the entire way! Saturday night we treated ourselves to dinner at the Oasis. That's were the above pics were taken. Russell really wanted a pic of Jackson on the cow but this was as close as they were going to get! On Sunday, Russell and I had a nice date with lunch and a movie at the Alamo. It was really relaxing to get away for a little while. Thanks to Mimi and Poppy for babysitting!
Today poor Russell is back in McKinney with the movers. He said things are going well. I am so glad Jackson, Maggie, and I are not there. That would be a little too crazy!

Nap time

This is not the best pic but he was so sweet sleeping in his swing (and sucking on his fingers). I was trying to get the pic and NOT wake him up. I'm sure all you moms out there know what I'm talking about!

Rollling over?

Not just yet. But, as you can see we are getting close!

Jackson's new toy

Shannon from my office had two exersaucers and so she gave one to Jackson. Thank you! It is definitely a toy he can grow into. He loves it. He already figured out how to turn the carousel which is brilliant!

By the way, I did not put the turtleneck onesie on my child! That would be his father! When I went to pick up the toy, Russell put that on him. It's not really his fault. We are moving to Austin for a few weeks between moves so I have Jackson's summer clothes packed. Only winter clothes remain in the closet for the movers to pack. Kind of funny but Jackson does look cute in his turtleneck. Can't wait to see the whole outfit . . . in November!

Guess who slept in his crib last night!

Last night Jackson slept in his crib in the nursery for the first time. Yes, I know we should have moved him to the nursery by now. But, we were planning to make that adjustment after the move so we only have to change his bed once. The night before last, Jackson kept turning in the pack and play. We decided he has outgrown the pack and play, at least for sleeping in it all night. So, last night, we tried the crib and it was a great night for everyone. He fell asleep so easily. I was amazed. We have the monitor which lets us see and hear him. So, I was completely comfortable. He's getting to be such a big boy!

4 years and counting!

Today, Russell and I celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe how fast it has gone by. This has been the best year so far! We don't have major plans for the weekend. We are cooking dinner at home tonight. But, Russell planned an anniversary getaway for us in September. We are going to Horseshoe Bay while Jackson stays with Mimi and Poppy. (I'm not sure if I can go three nights without him but we can worry about that later!)

All jumped out in the jumperoo

Jackson loves his jumperoo. I put him in it last night and he was playing. I literally turned around and noticed the music stopped (it plays when he jumps). He had fallen asleep! He never cried or fussed to get out. He just passed out while playing.

We found a house!

Russell, Jackson, and I have been house hounting in Lubbock. Yesterday we negotiated a deal. Assuming everything goes well with inspections, we have a house. We love the house. Of all the houses we have bought, I am the most excited about this one. There is nothing that I would change to the house (which is a first)! It is a little smaller than our house. It has two living areas as opposed to three. But, it does have a three car garage. The rest is the same: four bedrooms, three baths and two dining areas. We also love the neighborhood. The house is in a cul-de-sac and the neighborhood has a small park.

I was trying to take pictures of the details so I did not get the best overall pics. But, you get the idea.

The master bedroom and bathroom

The vanity is cluttered. We went back to take pics after we negotiated the deal and they were packing to leave for a trip but they let us take pics anyways. We wanted to get pictures before we left town. Check out the cooper sinks and the mirror. I love the details in this house.
