Sunday Funday

Sunday afternoon meant going to the park (twice!) and eating Mexican on the patio at On the Border. At least we have figured out an easy way to get Annabelle to take a nap - a stroll! Not to mention she always wakes up so refreshed.

That's my girl!

Excited for her Tigers to play football on Saturday.
Don't bother me when the game is on! Miss Priss loves watching those #1 Tigers play!

Ruidoso, New Mexico

We took Annabelle on her first vaca to Ruidoso. We had a great time. We left Sunday. Although we were supposed to come home today, we actually came home yesterday (a day early). Truthfully, the kids kind of wore us out! In the five days we were there, we went on lots of hikes, went shopping, Russell and Jackson went fishing, we had smores and plenty of good food. We also arrived on the last day of the Motorcycle Rally. Jackson is crazy about motorcycles right now so he was super excited. He must have said "motorcycle!" a thousand times this week. We got to visit the Smokey the Bear museum. We also saw plenty of animals and the animals would get so close. Although it was fun, it is nice to be home sweet home!

Smokey the Bear

Smokey the Bear is a concept that has been around a long time to bring awareness to human created forest fires. Well, in the 1940's a real, live Smokey the Bear came about. In Capitan, New Mexico a baby bear cub was found clinging to a tree in the middle of a forest fire. The bear cub had lost its mother and had badly burned paws. A firefighter took the bear cub home and nursed him back to health. The bear became Smokey the Bear and he was taken to a zoo in Washington DC. When Smokey the Bear dies in 1976, he was flown back to Capitan to be buried in his homeland. They considered burying him in the forest where he was found but because of vandalism concerns, they decided to bury him in the city of Capitan and created a park and museum around his grave. Who knew?

Random pics

As you can see, Jackson loves Annabelle's toys. I can't believe he hasn't broken anything, yet!Maggie got a haircut and Annabelle wanted her bows so Jackson was trying to get them for her (poor Maggie!) and Saturday night, the kids from next door came over selling cookie dough and decided to play for a while.

Super Saturday and a Baby Shower

We had a super busy weekend. Saturday morning, we woke up really early to go to see a hot air balloon launch. The balloons launch when the sun comes up. We went with the Leach's. The weather didn't exactly cooperate. It was a little chilly and sprinkling. That didn't bother Jackson and Cy. Despite the weather, we had a good time. They also had a band, a firetruck, and a really cool playground.

Afterwards, we went home to warm up and change. We went to the Leach's for BBQ and the Mississippi State game. We hung out all afternoon and went to the park by our house where Jackson and Cy ended up getting into the stream to play. They were a mess! Saturday night, the Leach's came to our house for dinner and more football. All of us were exhausted from such a busy day!

On Sunday, I helped host a Baby Shower for Amanda and the Leach's new addition, Ryan.
