Geaux Tigers and Go State, too!

Can you believe it? Football season has finally arrived! It feels like it was just yesterday when LSU won the National Championship! The Tigers kick things off this afternoon against Appalachian State at 4:00.

Mississippi State also gets their football season started tonight against my alma mater, Louisiana Tech. It is the bulldogs verses the bulldogs. Even though that is my school, I want the Mississippi State bulldogs to win because that will make Russell happy!

GEAUX TIGERS and GO STATE, too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAGGIE!

Happy Third Birthday to our sweetie, Maggie! We are suprising her by taking her to Austin to see her Mimi and her Poppy (my parents) and Bella. She loves her Mimi and Bella but Poppy holds a special place in her heart! Nobody takes care of Maggie like her Poppy! He plays with her and takes her for walks. Happy Birthday Mags!

Maggie likes to rest on the cool floor after a walk.

Isn't she cute in her pink "pampered" shirt!

Maggie likes to hide sometimes. Here she is in the pillows!

What Maggie enjoys most . . . her beauty rest!

Hot Air Balloon

Hot Air Ballooning is a popular hobby here in McKinney. Almost every weekend hot air balloons appear in the sky around our neighborhood. One of the first weekends that we lived here the sky was completely full of hot air balloons. It must have been a hot air balloon festival! There were probably 20 balloons.

Nevertheless, Saturday morning, I went for a walk and saw three balloons in the air. So, Sunday, when I took Maggie for her morning walk, I took my camera. I only saw one balloon on Sunday. The first picture shows the balloon rising in the distance. In the second picture I am standing almost directly under the balloon. Like I said, it is really neat because they fly right over our neighborhood. In the last picture, the balloon is flying off in the distance.

Maggie has never noticed the balloons before. (Probably because they are not in her line of vision, which is one foot off the ground!) She saw me taking the picture of the balloon and she did not like it! I guess because they get so close and they are so big. She kept looking back to make sure the balloon was not following us. It was funny but I did not like her being scared.

Weekend in review

Russell flew back in town late Saturday night so I got some R & R on Friday night and Saturday. I was really lazy. I ordered take-out, watched several movies, and spent some quality time with my girl, Maggie. It was great but we missed Russ. On Sunday we went to church and the champagne brunch at the country club. It was really delicious! They had smoked salmon, which is one of my favorite things. They also had chocolate cake which, everyone knows, is one of my favorite things!

While we were at the country club, Russell made a tee time to play nine holes later in the afternoon. Russell went early to practice and Maggie and I meet up with him so that we could ride in the golf cart. The third and fourth holes are less than a mile away so we just walked to meet up with Russ when he was on the second hole. Below are the pics.

After golf, Russell cooked dinner. He went fishing on the Great Lakes Saturday morning before flying home so he brought home some salmon and trout. So, he cooked the trout for dinner. It was good and I think we will cook some salmon tonight.

It was a good weekend. I hope the upcoming week is just the same. Although, it will be very busy for me. Luckily, Russell will be in-town this week! Have a great one!

Happy Birthday and Go Green

Today is Russell's mom's birthday so we want to wish her a Happy Birthday!

So Russell and I have decided to do something good for the planet. We are getting solar screens put on the front of our house. (We get alot of afternoon sun on the front of the house. Fortunately, we have trees in the backyard to shade any sun.) Nevertheless, this should enable us to use less electricity. Therefore, we are doing a little to help the planet - not to mention, our pocketbook! We have also started recycling!

Dinner date

Last night, Russell and I had our first dinner at the country club. We both tried Mexican food. Russell got steak fajitas and I got nachos with chicken. They were the best nachos ever! Russell said his fajitas were really good, too.

Russell also got an e-mail from the lady that invited us to join. She told us about a "Martini's with the Manager" party this Thursday and invited us to have dinner with her and her husband next week. I am glad that joining the country club is keeping us busy. For those who know Russell, know that he likes to keep his calendar full!

I could get used to this

Yesterday, Russell and I spent the afternoon at the country club. We played golf. Well, actually Russell played golf and I rode around with him in the cart snacking on the goodies the club has to offer. I actually did putt when he got to some of the greens. And I even drove the cart toward the end. The weather was really pleasant outside and the course was nice. I haven't seen many golf courses but the grass was really green, there were squirrels running around, nice houses to look at, ponds and creeks and lots of plants. I really had a good time and Russell said we could even bring Maggie next time. I have a feeling Russell will make friends soon enough and I won't get to go very often. That's okay. I could tell he was very excited to have joined the country club and to have such easy access to activities the club has to offer. If there is a next time for me, I'll take my camera.

It's a beautiful day . . .

So, yesterday morning, I woke up in a great mood because I won my first lead jury trial on Friday. The trial went on for three days which is really long for a DWI.

When I got up, I went outside for a walk and noticed that a cold front blew through on Friday night. There was a nip in the air and the high school marching band was playing in the distance. It really felt like fall (and football season)!

When we were house-hunting, we met two nice ladies who were members of the country club in our neighborhood. They sent an e-mail inviting us to join. So, yesterday we finally went to check it out. Of course, we joined. When Russell saw the golf-course, gym, and social calendar, I new we weren't leaving without a membership. I was not as excited as he was but after talking with the membership director, I think there will be alot of social activities that I will enjoy. Not to mention, they do have yoga classes that I would like to try.

We ended the day with out anniversary dinner. Yes, we are about 10 days late! I think I forgot to update about last weekend. Russell planned a surprise for out anniversary. He reserved a hotel room in Dallas near shopping and restaurants and we were going to shop and have a nice dinner. Well, on Friday, Russell came down with 102 degree fever and had to go to the doctor and get a shot. Nevertheless, we had a relaxing weekend and by Sunday night we were able to cook together.

Our anniversary dinner was a Mama Emilia's, an Italian restaurant in downtown McKinney. We have been wanting to try it out and it was REALLY good. Russell and I have always celebrated events at romantic Italian restaurants. I am glad we found a good one so close to home! Russell said it was just as good as any of the past Italian favs.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Say a prayer for me because I will probably have to lead another trial this week. Lead is very stressful . . . but very rewarding when you get a guilty!

Dallas Cowboys preseason

Don't forget to tune into the Dallas Cowboys preseason game tomorrow night at 8:00. This is their second preseason game. Last Saturday, they lost to the San Diego Chargers. That's okay since it is preseason. The starters looked sharp and Tony Romo looked good with 3 of 3 completed passes.

I was also proud of Jacob Hester a former LSU Tiger. He was playing for the Chargers and was a standout. Would you expect less from a former Tiger?

Also, I realized the Dallas Cowboy defense has two starters who graduated from LSU. I am liking being a Cowboy fan already!

Go USA!

Russell and I really enjoyed watching the Olympics last weekend. The opening event was Friday night and was really spectacular. For those who have not yet tuned in, you need to. Of all the sports, we really like watching the USA basketball team. We also like swimming and gymnastics. But, there are several unique sports, too. Nevertheless, tune in and support the USA!

The office

I am finally settled, for the most part, in my office. We spend so much time in the courtroom but it is nice to have my office feel comfy for the few hours that I do get to spend in it! The office is fairly good size but the furniture is not great. But, it does have a window . . . I'm happy!

Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary!

Today Russell and I are celebrating our third wedding anniversary! Russell has been out-of-town in Nebraska all week and he won't be home until late tonight. So, we won't get to celebrate until tomorrow. Russell has something planned on Saturday but I have not figured out what it is. He said that we need a dog sitter for Maggie. As usual, I am trying to figure it out but to no avail! Happy 3rd anniversary Russell and to a lifetime more of happy anniversary's!

The Dallas Cowboy tickets have arrived!

It is not hard to notice how excited Russell is to finally have his Cowboy tickets! He purchased the tickets a couple of months ago but they do not officially print the tickets until late July.

So, he just now got his hands on the tickets. Fed-ex actually attempted to deliver the tickets on Friday. They left a note saying they would re-deliver the tickets on Monday. But, Russell was not waiting. He drove to Plano on Friday afternoon to track down the tickets. We can't wait until the first game. It is a Monday night game, September 15th. Go Cowboys!

FINALLY . . . Baby Morgan pics!

Here is a picture of Morgan and her biggest fan . . . Maggie! Morgan and Maggie really hit it off. Maggie loved to kiss Morgan and Morgan laughed at Maggie, especially when Maggie would bark.

Here is a cute picture of Morgan and her pretty smile! I was fascinated by her cute little bottom teeth!

Here are some pictures of Morgan with her Uncle Russell.

This picture is similar to the one above but I had to post it. I think the way Morgan is looking at Shelby is so sweet!

TGIF

This week was kind of a rough week for me. I had three trials and I lost a DWI trial on Wednesday. The loss was devastating for an hour or so. I am feeling SOOO much better as the weekend quickly approaches! Hopefully, we will have a relaxing weekend. Russell and I do have dinner plans with his boss and his wife tonight. I look forward to meeting them and I think we are going out for sushi! You know we love sushi. Also, this weekend, I hope to get batteries for my camara so that I can post Baby Morgan pics from last weekend. I have not been doing a very good job updating the blog so I am going to work on that as well! I hope everyone is having a great Friday!
