Solomon Halloweekend

We have had a busy weekend! I had to break it into individual posts because there was too much to tell you about. We hope you had a good one, too!

Halloween festival and our favorite dinner

Friday afternoon we went to a Halloween festival. We rode a hayride that was pulled by a tractor and drove us by a choo choo train. These are Jackson's two favorite things so all was good. Afterwards, we went to eat Mexican. Jackson is a mini version of Russell but he has some strong traits from me, too. He loves Mexican food. He may love it more than me! He loves guacamole. We can't give it to him fast enough. He even liked the salsa which seems very strange for an 18 month old. We had a good time at the festival but we had the best time at the restaurant. Please ignore the food on his face. It's not easy keeping him clean while eating chips and dip!

Christmas come early

I got Jackson and Russell a bicycle trailer for Christmas but with the gorgeous weather, I had to go ahead and give it to them. On Saturday, we put it together and they went for a ride. Russell said Jackson loved and laughed along the way. They had so much fun they went for another ride today. As soon as Russell started going, I heard Jackson laughing. Luckily, I got one that holds two babies. Russell is going to have a heavy loud very soon!

Cowboys

Can you guess who picked out Jackson's Halloween costume this year? Well, here is a clue . . . it wasn't me. I think Russell was as excited about Halloween as the kids. Tonight when it was time to get Jackson ready, he said he needed to get ready. I was wondering what he was doing. He got out his Cowboy hat and boots, too. Who said Halloween was just for kids!?!

Happy Halloween

Jackson and Cy teamed up to go trick-or-treating for Halloween. They were so cute! Cy was a clown and everyone thought that we purposefully dressed them as a rodeo clown and the cowboy. We went with it. How creative of us! They even ran into a lovely ladybug along the way.

As for this holiday, Jackson loves it. He liked trick-or-treating with Cy but he really liked being at home passing out candy to other kids. He would run to the door and he was upset if he missed someone. By the end, he and Russell sat outside to make sure Jackson got to see everything going on. Jackson also decided to try some candy - his first sucker. It was a mess but he loved it. Isn't that all that matters!

Tractors

I know I have mentioned how much Jackson loves tractors. Well, they have started developing the land across the street from us to expand our neighborhood which means lots of tractors. Jackson couldn't be happier about it. He can often see a tractor from his bedroom window. Last week, I told Russell we had to walk over and check out one of the tractors because Jackson had been looking at it all afternoon. Jackson loved looking at the tractor. A few days later they were working late so Russell took Jackson to see them in action. I didn't go but Russell said all the workers waived to Jackson. I have a feeling we will be taking many walks across the street to check them out!

Happy 1 1/2 years!

Today our baby boy is 18 months old. Last night, I gave him a little 1 1/2 year gift. He got three new books. One was a dress-up peek-a-boo book which was perfect for Halloween. One of the babies is dressed as a Cowboy which is what Jackson is going to be for Halloween. Maybe his new book will help him get in the mood!

He wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do with the gift.

Trip to Monroe

On Friday, Jackson and I flew to Monroe to meet up with Mimi and Aunt Mona. Mom has been wanting me to go with her to Papa Cecil's grave so we finally made the trip. Luckily, Mimi flew to Dallas to meet up with me so I only had to make one flight each way by myself. Traveling at 6 months pregnant with an 18 month old isn't the easiest thing even though Jackson was a perfect angel the entire trip. When we got to Monroe on Friday afternoon, Aunt Mona and her granddaughter picked us up at the airport. We went to the cemetery and meet up with Ms. Willie Mae, a very close family friend. She was so excited to see Jackson. It was so good to see her. After that, we had dinner at the hotel and Grandma Barbara came over to see the babies. Saturday was very busy. Mom, Jackson and I all went to see the Kelly family. We spent the day with them and had the best time. We went to the famous, Johnny's Pizza for lunch and Jackson ate so much pizza. He loved it. Saturday night, we went to the mall. We rented the car strollers and pushed Jackson and Anna around. The really liked that. Jackson saw a carousel in the food court and got really excited. So, of course, Aunt Mona and mom took them for a ride. Sunday morning, we relaxed at the hotel and yesterday afternoon, we flew home. Jackson and I were totally exhausted when we got home. Russell had some surprises for us when we got home. I know he missed us! This morning we had a little family time and Russell took Jackson to school around 10. We are looking forward to a relaxing night of cooking out, watching the Cowboys and spending lots of time with Jackson!

God made dirt . . .

and it don't hurt. At least we hope not. Here is Jackson playing in the dirt. It is one of his favorite things to do. If it was up to me, this wouldn't be our afternoon fun but Russell lets him. As long as Russell cleans him (and the backyard) up, it's fine by me. Jackson is such a little boy. He loves to be covered in dirt and he loves to cover other chosen objects in dirt. This afternoon, it was Russell's Money magazine that was sitting on the patio table. What a mess!

Jumping Jungle

This morning, Jackson's daycare reserved the Jumping Jungle. Jackson and I had been with our Mom's Group before and I knew he would enjoy it even more now that he is a little older. There were four things that adults could do with babies so that is what we did. Jackson wasn't quite ready to tackle any jumpies by himself. But, the jumpers he did with daddy, he LOVED! And, I loved watching Russell climbing and jumping on all these things.

Some of the jumpers had very tall slides which would be difficult to climb if you were by yourself. So, it was hilarious watching Russell climbing these things with our big boy in tow. I was laughing uncontrollably from the ground but Russell said Jackson was laughing the whole way, too. in addition to the jumps, they got to shoot some hoops and Jackson, of course, danced to the jammin music. We played for about 45 minutes and both Russell and Jackson were exhausted. They had the best time.

This afternoon, Russell and I had a date to the Texas Tech game. Too bad they lost but it was a gorgeous afternoon so we had a good time. We came home to enjoy a relaxing night with our Boo and two football games. Geaux Tigers but, more exciting, Go State. We are so proud of the Bulldogs!

A long weekend

On Friday, Jackson and I took off from work and school and had a park playdate with Amanda and Cy. The boys had a blast playing on the playground and chasing the ducks. Friday night, we went out for more Mexican since it was such a success the weekend before. It was another great experience. Jackson is just like his mommy. He loves Mexican restaurants. He likes to dance to the music and he loves guacamole. Strange, I know. He actually gets mad if I don't get it to him fast enough. At least it's healthy! We also have to sit on the patio. I think that's another key to the success.

On Saturday we picked up a few things for Baby girl's room and watched football. LSU pulled out another shocking win and MS State beat Houston.

Sunday we headed to church and I snapped a picture of Jackson running around the house before we left. Sunday night, the Leach's came over for dinner and the Cowboys game. Unfortunately, the Cowboys lost but Cy and Jackson made up for it by having a dance party after the game. I took some funny videos that I tried to post this morning. I'll try to post them again later.

Monday, Jackson had a check up at his ear doctor and the tubes are still looking good. Phew! I also had a doctor appointment. Baby girl is growing fast so all was well with her. I was happy until they mentioned I needed the flu shot. It wasn't bad at all but my arm is really sore today. That's it for the long weekend!
