12 month doctor check-up

This morning, we went for Jackson's 12 month check-up. Unfortunately, he had to get 3 shots. Ugh! He is such a trooper about it. He cries for a few seconds and he even let the nurse rub his back when it was over. Nurse Robin said most children won't allow her to do that after the shots. I guess they are too upset with her.

On a lighter note, Jackson weighs 25.4 pounds and he is 29 1/2 inches tall. As for the weight, I am not sure if that is completely correct. Jackson is not a fan of the scale. The time before last, at the doctor, Jackson weighed 27 pounds and we were shocked how much he grew because he was only 24 pounds a few weeks earlier. The last time, he was 24 pounds and the doctor said the 27 pounds must have been a mistake. (He actually said that someone must have had their finger on the scale!) So, my guess is that we are somewhere between 24 and 25 pounds. At this time, Jackson is in the 83% for weight and 77% for height. Healthy boy!

Jackson's 1st Birthday!!!

Jackson's 1st Birthday started out like most days. When he woke up, Russell changed his diaper and I nursed him. (Yes, that's right, he is still breastfeed on his 1st Birthday - quite a victory!) After his milk, he and Daddy played and watched cartoons.
Jackson's birthday breakfast. We get alot of use out of the #1 candle!

8:30 and we are headed to daycare - with our carseat turned around. He was a very happy camper with this change! When we got to daycare, they were having eggs for breakfast. Jackson had eggs over the weekend and LOVED them so birthday eggs were another nice surprise!

2:30 and on the way home from daycare with the birthday balloon his teacher, Mrs.Nicki, gave him.

Playing with Daddy in the backyard. He loves his new four wheeler!
Clapping for his impressive efforts on the four wheeler!
A few more gifts from Mom and Dad.

I snapped this picture at 5:24 - the exact time he was born!
Jackson had his favorite food for his birthday - more spaghetti and a birthday cupcake.
He scarfed down one cupcake so Russell said to give him another one. I was hesitant so I gave him a bite of another cupcake. I was glad that I didn't give him the whole thing. He is STUFFED!
After his bath, the sugar high kicks in and he is going crazy bouncing his balloon on everything and tormenting Maggie. For some reason, Maggie is terrified of balloons!
Night time bottle and trying to come down off of his sugar high!

A year ago today was truly the most special day of my life! I can recall every moment of the day Jackson was born. It feels like it was only yesterday. It was nice to remember those memories and to make new memories on this special day!

Fun Family Weekend

Over the weekend, we had lots of family come to Lubbock for a visit and for Jackson's 1st Birthday Party. Cee flew in on Wednesday night and we had a family dinner at home. On Thursday, Jackson's Aunt Shelby, Uncle Matt, and cousin Morgan flew in. We hung out around the house and took Aunt Shelby for some yummy Mexican food. On Friday, Aunt Mona and Jackson's cousin, Anna, flew in. The adults went to the local wineries and Aunt Mona and I spent the afternoon with the kiddos and we baked cupcakes for the Birthday Party. Late Friday, Mimi, Poppy, and Uncle Christopher flew into town. On Saturday, everyone went to the National Ranch and Heritage Museum. They had some neat displays and we saw some horses. Saturday evening was Jackson's Birthday Party. He took a 3 hour nap on Saturday afternoon so he was in a great mood! I'll post party pics soon!

First Steps!

Today, Jackson took his first steps. He took his first steps in front of his Cee and his Mimi. So, Russell and I did not see them. But, after more encouragement, I saw him take a few more steps. These tiny steps exhausted him so Russell hasn't seen the steps, yet. I am certain before his first birthday (Tuesday), daddy will see some steps!

We had lots of family in town over the weekend and took lots of good pics. Today is a little crazy so I will post pics soon. We are so glad the grandparents were able to witness his first steps!

Ear infection, round 2

Our sweet baby boy has another ear infection or, maybe, the first infection was never completely cleared. We went to the doctor yesterday and got another shot. We didn't get any medicine other than ear drops but we have to go back on Thursday and he will probably get another shot. Ugh! Luckily, he seems to be feeling okay. Although, I know his ears must hurt. I think the shot and drops are helping.

On a happier note, 1 WEEK UNTIL THE BIG BIRTHDAY! We have to get Baby Boy well, soon!

Mini Playdate

Jackson's friend Cy stopped by this afternoon for a short while. Cy was alot of fun but Jackson was in a bit of a grumpy mood. I think his teeth were bothering him. Needless to say, it wasn't easy to get a good pic. This is the only shot I got of the two of them. Russell gave Cy a Case Tractor on his way out. Hopefully, Jackson will be in a better mood next time we see Cy!

Daddy's Day Out

Today Russell had a day out. He got invited to the Texas Tech Spring football scrimmage and he got a sideline pass. I am disappointed we don't have pics. He was running a little late and we couldn't find his camera. He said he had a great time and he even got to meet Tommy Tuberville, the new head coach. We are glad Daddy had a fun afternoon out but we are even happier that he is home to spend the evening with us!

Elton John Concert

Friday night, Russell and I hit the town with our new Lubbock pals, Amanda and Rick. They have a little boy that is the same age as Jackson. Anyways, we went to the Elton John concert. We sat in the suite at the Texas Tech Coliseum. We arrived early to chill with snacks and drinks and we watched the Masters on the TV in the suite. The concert was really good and we all recognized more songs than we thought we would! After the concert, we hit a few of the local establishments. I think we were all excited to have a night on the town!

Jackson's First Farm Show

Russell had a Farm Show here in Lubbock this week. So, on Friday, Jackson and I went to check it out. He is still feeling a little yucky from his ear infection so the smiles were a little tough to come by but he was definitely excited to see his daddy!
