Fun at the Fair

We had a great weekend with Mimi. On Saturday, we met up with the Leach's at the fair. As you can see, we took tons of pics and I even stole a few from their blog. The boys rode the carousel and a train. They also played a game where they picked up ducks for a prize. Believe it or not, I won the biggest prize out of everyone. I won the game where you shot water at the target. I beat out several other people which is how I got a big prize. I picked out a cute monkey for Jackson (like he needs more stuffed animals). He also went home with a white stuffed dog (like Maggie) and a beach ball. Russell won the first prize of the day by throwing baseballs at plates. He picked out a ladybug for the Baby girl. I didn't even tell him to pick it. How sweet! He knows how much I love ladybugs. We also went to a petting zoo with all kinds of farm animals. And, somehow we managed to find a cute Yorkie dog that fascinated Jackson and Cy. I don't think Jackson wanted to leave the dog. I think the best part of the day was the dance party we had while we were waiting for the rides to start running. Jackson and Cy are so cute when they dance!

Halfway there!

We are at 20 weeks today. We are probably further than half way seeing how Jackson arrived a week early. We ordered the furniture this morning and we have the bedding picked out. The excitement definitely hasn't worn off, yet. I will be looking forward to next week. We should have several packages arriving for our little princess (and a few things for Jackson). Mimi and I had to do a little on-line shopping. Russell is being such a good daddy. He assured me that I should get whatever I needed for her and her nursery. Okay! No problem.

PINK, RUFFLES, RIBBONS & BOWS

Today we found out we are having a GIRL! As you can tell, I am thrilled. Russell says he is happy especially since I really wanted a girl. I know a boy would have been pretty exciting for him. I told him Baby #3 would be anohter boy. Heck, I'll give him the whole basketball team as long as I get my one girl!

Mimi flew in just in time for the sonogram and we went shopping when Jackson was down for his nap. Everyone was telling me about My Cup of Tea and for anyone around Lubbock, you must go. A fabulous baby store. I must say, it is more fun shopping for girls! They just have so much more to offer. Not that I don't love shopping for my Baby Boy. Now, it's time to figure out the nursery. I already have a good idea of the furniture and bedding, I just need to solidfy decisions and start making purchases. We are so blessed.

Haircut (round 3), Texas Tech game and a doctor appointment

It was a fun, busy weekend. Jackson had his haircut and Mimi has been wanting to see pics, so here he is before, during and after. We like it long but it was so long and hanging in his eyes so it needed a trim.

Saturday night Russell and I went to the Texas Tech game with friends. We had the best time. We got to sit in the suite which is more like a party than a football game. The game was actually pretty good, at least for a while.

Last night things weren't too great for me. I got a stomach bug from Russell. Luckily, we had a doctor appointment for the baby this morning. I wasn't worried about myself but it was good to get Baby Solomon checked out. The baby was actually kicking more than ever. This was the first time Russell felt the baby kick. The doctors and nurses have complimented Baby Solomon's energy at the last three visits. All the activity makes me think we will be having a baby boy because I don't think Jackson was even this active (and he was a very active baby)! We will find out soon enough and we are so excited.

As for my health, the doctor was concerned and when she told us I would be going to the hospital if I wasn't keeping down liquids within a few hours. Even calm Russell got a little jittery. The doc prescribed me an amazing medicine that had the nausea disappear almost instantly. Luckily, there is a Judge's conference this week so I have no court until Friday so I was able to come home and rest. Truth be told, I still haven't gotten out of bed. I am tired from being up all night and my tummy is still sore. Glad Russell is home to take care of me today but I am really missing Jackson. I could only see him from a distance this morning and I didn't like missing our morning snuggles. Well, tonight will be family night and we'll watch the Saints play. I just can't wait to see the little guy!

"Truck"

Here is a video of Jackson saying his favorite word, "truck." I took this video earlier this week and he is saying truck even better (and more frequently) now. He loves trucks. When we are in the car, he points out every truck that we pass and when we are home, he points out every truck that drives by.

Swatting flies

Here in Lubbock, we have flies, not mosquitoes. Yuck, I know. They aren't too bad but they are worse when we cookout, which is frequently. So, Russell has invested in several fly traps, including some fly swatters, so that we can continue to enjoy the fall weather. When he bought the fly swatters, he got an extra for Jackson. After all, we knew if Russell had one, Jackson would want one. Here is a picture of Jackson doing what he sees daddy doing - swatting flies.

Baby Solomon on the move

I am working from home today so Maggie and I took a long morning stroll. It must have woke up the baby because when I got home he/she was really squirming and I even felt a good kick. I have been feeling things for a few weeks but this was the first good kick to ole momma! Funny how these things can be so wonderful.

Football frenzy

Since Russell and I were out of town for Labor Day, this was the first weekend to watch football non-stop. We watched Mississippi State and the Saints on Thursday night after Jackson's school's open house. Go Saints and State looked impressive they just didn't quite pull off a win. Saturday was college football all day. Russell was in the football spirit and decided to smoke a brisket and we had our own little tailgate. Jackson loved hanging out with mom and dad while we watched football. Luckily, LSU pulled out a win over Vandy. On Sunday, more football and we went to the Leach's to kick off the Cowboys first game. It had an unpleasant ending but we had a great time hanging out with our friends. Amanda got a lot more pics than I did so I may still some from her blog later. One of the pics, is the nap Jackson took before the Cowboys Sunday night game. I think he is already a football fan because he stayed up late to watch LSU and he stayed up for the entire Cowboys game Sunday night. Needless to say, after the wild weekend, last night he slept from 7 until 7:30 this morning. Tired boy!

"Da truck"

Jackson has a new word, "truck." Mimi and Poppy were able to translate his jabber last weekend. I think he has been saying it for a while but I just thought it was jibber jabber but he really is saying "truck" and, of course, we know he can say "Da Da!"

Mom said last weekend anytime a truck would pass by he would point and say "Da truck." She thinks he was looking for us. Last night, we went to the Open House at Jackson's school. When we got home, Jackson and I stayed in the driveway talking to our neighbor. Jackson saw a few trucks and kept saying "truck, truck, truck." It was so cute and now I am convinced he really is saying "truck" and it's not just jabber. I should have known, a few of his favorite books are about trucks and we will sometimes go outside and wait for Da Da's truck to pull in. Listening to him is so much fun!

Jackson's weekend

Mimi and Poppy took these pics of Jackson this weekend. They came to Lubbock to keep Jackson while Russell and I went to Santa Fe for a little anniversary trip. Unfortunately, Jackson came down with a little bug so they didn't get out of the house much. They were able to make a short trip to the Wal-Mart toy aisle where Jackson racked up some new toys and books. Most of the weekend was hanging out around the house with the pups. Luckily, they had nice weather so they were able to go outside. We really appreciate Mimi and Poppy spending the weekend with our Boo. I know their dog, Bella, will be glad to get home for some rest. As you can see in the pics, Jackson was more than happy to leave Maggie alone long enough to torment poor Bella for a while. Thanks again to the Grands!
